Flocking Adhesives
Water-based flocking adhesive routes selected by substrate surface energy, pretreatment, flock fiber and durability target.
Selection logic for water-based flocking adhesives
Flocking adhesive selection should not start from the material name alone. A reliable recommendation depends on surface energy, release-agent contamination, flock fiber, application method, drying or curing window, abrasion target and compliance expectations.
ABS and rigid PVC are usually easier to wet and bond than PP or PE. Flexible PVC needs plasticizer migration checks. PP and PE usually require surface activation, primer or a dedicated low-surface-energy route before the flocking adhesive can be approved.
Main water-based routes
- Water-based acrylic flocking adhesive for paper, packaging and decorative surfaces
- Water-based PU / PUD flocking adhesive for plastics, foam, automotive interior and higher abrasion needs
- PU-acrylic hybrid route when softness, adhesion and cost need to be balanced
- Low-surface-energy support route for PP, PE and TPO projects
- Specialty silicone or elastomer route for narrow-window projects, handled by sample discussion
