Record the fabric and coating setup

Fabric construction changes absorption, holdout and the amount of coating needed to form a continuous film. Record fabric weight, structure, coating side, knife gap and wet pickup.

When additives are used, keep their type and amount in the trial record. Otherwise a change in hand feel or water response may be attributed to the wrong variable.

Evaluate more than one result

Check film formation, hand feel, blocking, bending and appearance after the normal drying and conditioning period.

Water resistance, anti-slip behavior or topcoat compatibility should each use a defined test. A single visual check cannot approve all functions.
