Separate odor from VOC documentation

Odor is a sensory observation affected by product, flooring, substrate, ventilation and installation conditions. VOC is a measured or regulated value tied to a defined method and document.

A product described as low odor should not automatically be presented as low VOC, VOC-free or compliant with every project requirement.

Ask for the project requirement

Confirm whether the buyer needs an SDS, a product TDS, a VOC report or compliance against a named standard. Then check whether the available document covers the proposed product.

Flooring and subfloor samples should still be tested for open time, wet tack, rolling and final bond. Documentation does not replace installation testing.
